Exploratory Weekend

This weekend we did a lot of exploring all around the town... truth be told, there really isn't much to do at the foothills of the Sierras, but on a sunny day there is a lot to see.  Instead of going golfing in our backyard we decided to visit Columbia and New Melones Lake and a few other places along the road.  It was one fabulous weekend and we found a bunch of cool places to see if anyone wanted to come visit... (Ashley, need I remind you that Gage is already packed and ready to go?)

Having fun with the camera at the lake

Objects in mirror are closer than they appear

Rock skipping extraordinaire... here is the wind-up (skipping rocks was one of our first official un-official dates)

And the pitch

I can't remember why I posed like this... but we think its a cool picture

True story... there was a Mormon Battalion monument further down the street

Another true story... and we HAD to take a pic

The bridge above New Melones Lake

At Columbia Historic State Park we did a lot of exploring and testing out old tools

The rocks were like a giant playground, so many caves and crevices to explore... and you can't see it in the picture, but behind us is even a place to go panning for gold

And naturally, we had to get a shot of the old-old school fire engine... this was probably the most exciting thing in Columbia

The original bank

We also became big fans of Sasparilla and Old-fashion Sassafras herbal tea

  1. Ahhh we have to come visit!! I've been talking Justin into it. Although Gage already ate the banana out of his backpack. Thought it'd be bad by the time he actually got to fly! ;)
